Joshua J. Atkinson is a board-certified physician assistant through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). He is a Colorado native, having grown up in the Denver Metro area. Joshua served as a U.S. Army National Guard Combat Medic from 2014 to 2021. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Metropolitan State University Denver while serving in the Army. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from The University of Nebraska Medical Center in December 2023. He then obtained his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies through the military’s Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP), accredited through the University of Nebraska Medical Center, in February 2025, and obtained licensure as a physician assistant in Colorado. He earned his Doctor of Medical Science through Butler University’s DMS Bridge Program in December 2025.
He underwent clinical rotations in multiple practice areas at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, and has undergone FMCSA National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners training. He has Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation Level 1 accreditation. PA Atkinson finds comfort in medical settings and has a strong drive to help others recover, heal and return to a positive lifestyle.
Joshua's spare time is spent either with his wife and children, working out at the gym, attending sporting events or leisure activities in the mountains.
